Municipal authorities have approved a plan for two fireworks shows on New Year’s Eve. The 15-minute fireworks will be set off midnight at the Landmark 81 building and the Thu Thiem Tunnel.  

On the night of December 31 and January 1, the public can enjoy a lighting show using 3D mapping techniques at the headquarters of Ho Chi Minh City's People’s Committee in District 1. A countdown concert will be held on the Nguyen Hue pedestrian street on New Year’s Eve. Famous V-pop singer Son Tung M-TP is expected to perform at the outdoor concert.

The municipal Department of Culture and Sports will organise a cycling tournament and art performances in District 9, Binh Chanh, Cu Chi, and Can Gio districts on December 31, with other events in District 12, Binh Tan, Tan Phu, Hoc Mon and Nha Be districts on January 1 for workers in industrial zones.
