HCMC reports new Omicron subvariant XBB.1.5
(VOVWORLD) -Ho Chi Minh City has detected new COVID-19 Omicron sub-variant XBB.1.5 following genome sequencing, the municipal Center for Disease Control announced on Friday.

The World Health Organization has identified XBB.1.5 in the group of subvariants of concern and in need of close monitoring as it has become dominant in 94 countries worldwide.
The Center said that in recent days, the number of COVID-19 cases has slightly increased. Since the beginning of March, HCMC has recorded an average of one COVID-19 case per day. 12 patients are being treated at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases with no serious cases requiring mechanical ventilation.
The municipal Health Department has asked the local CDC and medical facilities to continue vaccination and ready human resources, equipment, medicine, and facilities for medical examination, treatment and emergencies.
