The meeting on Wednesday followed the return of the delegation from the TPP chief negotiators meeting in Hawaii from March 9 to 15. Tran Quoc Khanh, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade and Head of the Vietnamese negotiation delegation, informed the Committee about the progress of TPP negotiation.
First launched in 2005, TPP negotiations have involved the participation of 12 countries including Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand. Peru, Singapore, the US and Vietnam. Those countries are doing their best to reach the agreement soon.
Once the agreement is signed, TPP will become the largest free trade area with 800 million population, accounting for 30 percent of global trade turnover and nearly 40 percent of the world economic output.
