VOVTV broadcast the event live. At the seminar, Doctor Nguyen Tien Quyet, Director of Viet Duc Hospital, said tissue and organ transplants are one of the most important achievements of Vietnam’s health sector. He added that there are now 14 centers nationwide that can perform transplants. He said Vietnam’s organ transplant technique is comparable with those of advanced countries. Quyet said: “Vietnam has not yet performed heart-lung transplants, intestine transplants, and certain others. However, the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Science and Technology have ordered major health centers in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and the Central region to acquire these organ transplant methods.”
According to the Ministry of Health’s plans, Vietnam will perform heart-lung and intestine transplants by 2015.
