(VOVWORLD) - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong on Thursday proposed the government to adopt a special mechanism for Thu Duc City.

At a meeting on HCMC’s development with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Mr. Phong said: "To make Thu Duc City a growth engine for HCMC and the Southern Key Economic Region, we ask the Prime Minister to direct relevant ministries and agencies to build customized policies and mechanisms for Thu Duc City according to the Resolution submitted to the government during the second quarter of 2021."
Mr. Phong also asked for more infrastructure construction in HCMC’s northern residential area and the North-South express railway, and mentioned several issues concerning urban management and public investment over the next 5 years.
