From 1959 to 1975, Vietnamese soldiers established a transportation route on the Truong Son range, connecting places in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos. The nearly 17,000km Ho Chi Minh Trail also known as Truong Son Trail helped transport weapons and soldiers to the battlefields, contributing to the success of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign in 1975 to liberate and reunite the country.

Nguyen Manh Hung, Chairman of A Luoi district’s People’s Committee, said: “The Truong Son Trail runs through A Luoi district and connects with other provinces and Laos. It’s important for local economic development and poverty reduction. A Luoi district has promoted its tradition of unity in developing socio-economy to become an urban center in the west of Thua Thien Hue province.”
