(VOVworld) - Foreign Ministry spokesman Le Hai Binh has responded to China’s unilateral fishing ban in Vietnam’s Hoang Sa waters. He told the press in Hanoi on Thursday: “Hoang Sa (Paracel) is Vietnam’s unalienable territory and Vietnamese fishermen’s traditional fishing area for generations. Vietnamese authorities will strengthen their management and monitoring of Vietnamese fishermen operation in Vietnamese waters to deal with emerging issues.”

Regarding a bus accident in Cambodian province of Spayrieng, killing 21 garment workers on the way from Ho Chi Minh City, Binh said the Vietnamese Ambassador in Cambodia had sent staff to the site to verify information and confirmed there was no Vietnamese victim. He added information about Malaysian arrest of Vietnamese citizens: “Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia has reported that the Vietnamese citizens in detention in Malaysia were due to their local law violation. The Embassy has carried out necessary citizen protection measures. For cases of release, the Embassy has cooperated with relevant local agencies to bring them home shortly.”

Regarding South Korean trial of two Vietnam Airlines staff on charges of gold smuggling, the spokesman said the Vietnamese Embassy in Seoul has closely watched the case and cooperated with Vietnam Airlines to implement necessary citizen protective measures.
