The information was unveiled by Mai Phan Dung, deputy head of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, at a press briefing in Hanoi on Wednesday.
Delegates will offer incense to ancestors, release carps, pay tributes to late President Ho Chi Minh and war martyrs, and take part in a Vietnamese food festival.
Notably, State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc will meet and extend lunar New Year greetings to the delegates at a special art exchange show.
The Vietnamese expatriates will also meet with leaders of the National Assembly Committee for Foreign Affairs and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, and join a spring fare, along with tourism, trade and investment promotion activities.
This annual programme creates a chance for Party and State leaders to listen to Vietnamese expatriates’ thoughts and aspirations, and to honour collectives and individuals who have made great contributions to the homeland during the year, said Dung.
