An art show at the 2018 Hue festival.

Phan Thanh Hai, Director of Thua Thien-Hue province’s  Department of Culture and Sports, said that a highlight of the festival will be a fashion show featuring Vietnam’s traditional long dress, the ao dai.

Mr. Hai said, “We will encourage Hue people to wear ao dai during the festival. So ao dai will be worn in offices, on the street, and in shops. A special ao dai program will be performed at the closing ceremony.”

Phan Thien Dinh, Vice Chairman of the Thua Thien-Hue provincial People's Committee, said the Hue Festival 2020 will be an important event to promote local tourism. Admission to all heritage sites in Hue will be free.

“This year our top priority is tourism. There will be a marathon, a bicycle race, and a stand-up paddle board race to send a message of new vitality following the COVID-19 pandemic,” Mr. Dinh said.
