(VOVworld) – The Indian government has made sure that the arrest and detention of India's deputy Consul General Devyani Khobragade in New York will not hurt their close bilateral relationship. The announcement was made by Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid on Thursday after visa fraud charge against Khobragade created a diplomatic uproar.

Khurshid told CNN’s sister network IBN that India and the US don’t want to see their fine relations damaged and called this incident just a diplomatic argument between friends that he hoped will soon be resolved.

Khurshid’s statements responded to US Secretary of State John Kerry who had earlier expressed his regret about the incident and his concern that this unfortunate issue might hurt the US-India relationship.
