(VOVWORLD) -India and China agreed to maintain security and stability on the ground in the western sector of Line of Actual Control (LAC) during the 18th round of their corps commander-level talks on Sunday.

The two sides agreed to stay in close contact, maintain dialogue through military and diplomatic channels, and work out a mutually acceptable resolution of the remaining issues.
An Indian official said this was a frank, in-depth discussion aimed at resolving LAC issues and enabling progress in bilateral relations.
The territorial dispute between India and China broke out after China reportedly altered the status quo along the LAC in eastern Ladakh unilaterally in May 2020. After multiple rounds of negotiations, the two countries agreed to withdraw from their confrontational positions but still maintain large numbers of troops and weapons in the area.
