A joint press release said the two sides positively appraised the smooth completion of disengagement of frontline troops in the Pangong Lake area noting that it was a significant step forward that provided a good basis for resolution of other remaining issues along the LAC (Line of Actual Control) in Western Sector.
China-India border tensions re-escalated last May when both sides deployed heavy weapons and thousands of troops in their border zone.
The 3,500-kilometer Himalayan borderline has been a conflict hotspot with many clashes in the last 80 years.
