According to Indian police, a ten-year-old boy and teenage girl have died, and 5 other civilians were injured as Pakistani troops opened fire and lobbed mortars at dozens of villages and posts in Kerni.
The Line of Control (LoC) is the border that separates parts of Kashmir in the Himalayas held by India and Pakistan, but they both claim sovereignty over the area. Despite a ceasefire agreement in 2003, conflicts between the two countries continue to occur and both sides blame each other for violating the agreement.
