(VOVWORLD) - India underscored the importance of respecting the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and supported ASEAN’s position on determining entitlements based on the Convention, said India’s top diplomat at the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) in Jakarta on Friday.
Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar expressed concerns about activities undermining peace and stability and said that any Code of Conduct should not prejudice the rights and interests of third parties.
He also highlighted the crucial role of ASEAN in India’s Act East policy and its vision for the wider Indo-Pacific region.
