Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh

(VOVworld) - Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh submitted his resignation to President Pranab Mukherjee on May 17 after the failure of his United Progressive Alliance, UPA, in the Lower House election on May 12.
Mammohan Singh, a famous economist, was Indian Prime Minister in 10-year tenure of two UPA governments.

The Indian Election Committee announced on May 17 that the National Democracy Alliance (NDA) led by the BJP won the majority seats in the Lower House of parliament to establish an independent government. BJP parliamentary board convened its first meeting the same day to prepare for the appointment of Narendra Modi as Prime Minister.
