Local authorities and Germany’s Interkultur - the world's leading organizer of international choir competitions and festivals – held an awards ceremony on Saturday to present 18 gold prizes and 12 silver prizes in categories of male and female choirs, hymns, and folklore.
The 6th competition of its kind drew 1,000 artists from 10 countries, including China, Indonesia, Poland, South Korea, Singapore, and the US.
“This is the first time the competition has attracted choirs from the US and Europe, showing the growing popularity of choral music, which has the ability to connect people and promote peace,” said Vo Phung, Director of the Hoi An Center for Culture, Sports, Radio, and Television.
Interkultur president Günter Titsch praised Hoi An as a peaceful meeting place, an ideal venue for peaceful competitions for both locals and foreigners.
