Indonesian scholar recommends ASEAN summit’s agenda
(VOVWORLD) - Indonesian scholar Aleksius Jemadu said the 36th ASEAN Summit should focus on policy coordination to respond to and eliminate the Covid-19 pandemic.
He recommended that Vietnam share its experience in fighting the pandemic with other 9 ASEAN countries. He appreciated Vietnam’s leading role in maintaining ASEAN’s centrality and strengthening internal solidarity for regional stability. He expressed his belief that Vietnam is in the best position to promote its leadership role in ASEAN.
Professor Jemadu said the ASEAN leaders should discuss regional stability and developments in the East Sea. The bloc should reinforce its foreign policies with China to speed up negotiations on the Code of Conduct of Parties in the East Sea to avoid escalating tensions and unnecessary use of force in disputed waters.
