Over the years, Mrs Deyme and her husband have donated to Vietnam 660,000 Euros (about 18 billion VND) for scientific studies and epidemic prevention; in particular, a research project to determine the cause of acute brain syndrome in Bac Giang and two medical training centers in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. Vietnamese ambassador Duong Chi Dung said this is an acknowledgement by Vietnamese people of Deyme and her late husband for their great humanitarian efforts and contributions over many years, helping children in many cities and provinces nationwide. Deyme said: "When we decided to donate the money through the Pasteur Institute we hoped to help many people in Vietnam with health problems and difficulties in Vietnam, so we have tried to do our utmost. I am very moved to receive this insignia."
