(VOVworld)- The President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan has promised to work with the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations to implement the tasks of consultation, criticism and supervision. Nhan was speaking at a meeting on intellectuals’ role in national development together with members of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs:“In 2014-2015, we will focus on policies for scientists, especially those living overseas and finance for science and technology. The Front is the supervisor and relevant agencies are the implementers of these policies over the next two years. So, we should increase our cooperation in the area of supervisory work”.

There are more than 1.5 Vietnamese intellectuals in addition to 400,000 Vietnamese academicians living in more than 100 countries and territories. Vietnam has put in place a range of policies to encourage intellectuals, especially those who live overseas, to further contribute to national development.
