Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei has hailed the UN’s recognition of Palestine as a non-member observer state. He said it is a positive progress for Palestinians on their way to independence.  He added a Palestine with full sovereignty is the base and premise for the peaceful coexistence of Palestine and Israel. China will continue to play a constructive role in pushing for the comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian issue.

Vietnam has congratulated Palestine on being granted non-member observer state status by the UN General Assembly.  Answering queries on Vietnam’s response to the UN General Assembly’s resolution to grant an upgrade of Palestinian status from "entity" to "non-member state", Foreign Ministry spokesperson Luong Thanh Nghi on Friday further said the event marks a milestone in the Palestinian people’s struggle for basic national rights, including the right to establish an independent and sovereign Palestinian state that peacefully coexists with the state of Israel. Israel government on Friday announced a plan to build 3000 settlements in the West Bank following Palestine’s status upgrade at the UN.
