International community criticizes US human rights violation

The UN said the torture program in some secrete prisons run by the CIA violates the international law on torture prohibition and basic human rights. Spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry Hong Lei asked the US to abide by international conventions on human rights. Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei said “the US government is a symbol of tyranny against humanity”, not only in CIA’s prisoner torture programs but also in law enforcement.
German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said the over use of forces has breached freedom and democracy.
Spokeswoman for the EC Catherine Ray said the US Senate report suggested several questions on human rights violation in the US. UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Raad an-Hussein asked the US to judge CIA high-ranking officials who were in charge of the torture program. He said the US was a signatory of the UN Convention Against Torture in 1994 and the US must abide by the law. Several human rights organizations have called on President Barack Obama to take legal action against the violators.
