(VOVworld) – Delegates discussed measures to enhance international cooperation on zoonotic disease prevention and control at a 2-day international conference that opened on Tuesday in Hanoi. The event, entitled “Addressing Health Threats Posed by Zoonotic Diseases: global collaboration and technical exchange”, attracted the participation of more than 170 representatives from Southeast Asian countries. Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vu Van Tam, said zoonotic disease prevention and control requires close collaboration among countries to prevent any possible outbreaks: "The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development attaches great importance to cooperation and information exchange with the World Veterinary Organization, the UN Food and Agricultural Organization, and other international organizations in zoonotic disease prevention and control. The Prime Minister has approved the establishment of a partnership on avian and human influenza which plays an important role in the implementation of the Global Health Security Program and Vietnam’s action package to prevent zoonotic diseases."
