Iran declares to reiterate US’ extended sanctions
(VOVworld) – Iran said the US’ extension of sanctions on Iran for another 10 years breaches the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Ghasemi said Iran has abided by international law and it will have appropriate reaction for each circumstance.
His comments came hours before US lawmakers passed a bill renewing sanctions on Iran for 10 years. The House of Representatives voted 419 to one for a 10-year reauthorization of the Iran Sanctions Act, or ISA, a law first adopted in 1996 to punish investments in Iran's energy industry.
The White House has neither supported nor strongly opposed the bill. Some congressmen and government officials said ISA extension has not violated the nuclear deal with Iran.
