(VOVWORLD) - At least 530 people were killed and 8,000 injured when a powerful magnitude 7.3 earthquake struck the Iran-Iraq border on Sunday.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani travelled to the western Iran province of Kermanshah to access the damage. Rouhani delivered condolences to the families that lost loved ones. The province announced 3 days of mourning.
