(VOVworld) – Iraqi forces battled jihadists inside Mosul for the third day as they advanced into the city. The Counter-Terrorism Service Staff member Lieutenant General Abdelghani al-Assadi, said on Sunday that Iraqi forces were liberating areas of Mosul after seizing some parts.

Clashes remain fierce as Islamic State (ISIS) fighters are divided into small groups and hiding in houses. Last month, Iraqi forces launched a major campaign to take control of Mosul, which was the last ISIS stronghold in Iraq.
