(VOVWORLD) - Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility for the attack at the Shal Cheragh shrine in southern Iran on Wednesday.
The militant group said one of its members fired at visitors, killing 20 people and wounding many more. The gunman was not Iranian, according to Nournews, a media firm with connections to top security agencies in Iran.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has said the attack will not go unanswered.
