(VOVworld) - An Egyptian naval patrol ship burst into flames during an exchange of shots with militants off the coast of the Sinai Peninsula on Thursday, a spokesperson for the Egyptian military said.
Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the attack. In an announcement posted on a social network, the IS branch in Sinai said they fired a rocket from the coast at the Egyptian ship.
On Wednesday, Egyptian soldiers successfully thwarted a suicide bombing targeting a military station between Cairo and the Suez Canal. The IS branch in Egypt also claimed responsibility for this attack.
