(VOVworld) – The self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) admitted having conducted a triple suicide bombing on Sunday targeting a compound housing Kurdish security and intelligence forces in the northeast Iraq province of Diyala.

The attackers were 3 foreign IS members from Germany, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey. Iraqi officials said the attack wounded 107 people and killed at least 58, including Brigadier General Ahmed al-Dulaimi.
Also on Sunday, American forces revealed that they had deployed an unspecified number of Apache helicopters to Baghdad International Airport to defend against attacks by IS, who were located 20 – 25km from the airport.

Turkey has agreed to train moderate Syrian rebels and allow the US-led international coalition against IS use Turkish military bases for operations in Iraq and Syria.
