On the threshold of the election, Netanyahu said that there would be no Palestinian State if he was elected the next Prime Minister. He also reiterated his policies of securing the “integrity” of Jerusalem as well as Israel’s national security and continuing to build Israel settlements in Gaza.
Herzog told his supporters on Monday that he was confident in the race for Israel’s presidency, insisting on his 3 priorities of economic growth, strengthening the strategic alliance with the US, and resuming peace talks with Palestine.
Polls opened on Tuesday at 7 a.m. local time and will close at 10 p.m., after which the Election Commission begins to count the votes.
