Mr. Conte, 54, told a press conference that he will continue reforms and will maintain close contact with the EU.
The EU is closely monitoring Italy’s political situation, worried that the Italian party alliance will undercut the EU’s budget discipline and push the Eurozone into a public debt crisis.
