Italy wants to improve ties with Vietnam

(VOVWORLD) - Italy’s Vice Minister of Economic Development Gilberto Pichetto Fratin praised the development of the Vietnam- Italy strategic partnership. During his visit to the Vietnamese Embassy in Italy on Wednesday, the Vice Minister said Italy wants to improve its ties with Vietnam, one of its key markets in the Asia-Pacific region.

Vice Minister Fratin pledged to lobby at the Italian Parliament for an early ratification of the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA). He said he hopes more Italian travelers will visit Vietnam when international tourism is resumed. The Vice Minister promised to coordinate to host the 8th meeting of the joint economic committee and noted the Italian businesses’ growing interest in Vietnam.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy Nguyen Thi Bich Hue said she looks forward to the EVIPA ratification by the Italian Parliament to boost bilateral economic relations. Hue said she appreciates commitments made by Italy as a G7 member and the G20 President in 2021 which is dedicated to the global agenda; such as health and environmental sustainability. She added that Vietnam is keen on Italy’s economic recovery and transition, which are golden opportunities to foster bilateral relations.
