But Senator Tsutomu Sato, who is in charge of internal affairs of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), said the ruling party and other parties in the coalition government plan to move up the kick-off by one day to avoid the memorial for the victims of the Battle of Okinawa during World War II. In this election the coalition government will face criticism for failing in its monetary and financial policies, known as Abenomics.
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is expected to announce on Wednesday a decision to defer the date to raise consumer tax from April 2017 to October 2019.
