In a joint statement, the two leaders said they are concerned about unilateral actions that change the status quo and raise tensions in the East Sea. They stressed the need to settle disputes peacefully and in line with international laws and called for the reform of the UN Security Council, saying Tokyo is a suitable candidate for a permanent seat on the expanded council.
