Japan, US, China evaluate first day of DPRK-USA summit
(VOVWORLD) - After the first day of the DPRK-USA summit, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe expressed hope that the summit will have a positive outcome toward denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula.

Abe said resolving the abductions of Japanese nationals remains a key issue for Japan. He said he spoke to US President Donald Trump about the issue over the phone and he is confident President Trump will convey his thoughts to Chairman Kim.
Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Wednesday that he hopes the summit will make new progress towards denuclearization and long-term peace on the Korean Peninsula. Wang said China will continue to safeguard peace and stability on the peninsula, promote dialogues and peace talks, and contribute to long-term stability.
Former US Ambassador to the UN Bill Richardson said Wednesday that the summit has gotten off to a great start, and the good relationship between the US President and the DPRK Chairman is good for diplomacy. He said their personal relationship is important both to the DPRK and Asia.
