Mr. Abe said that during the US President’s upcoming visit to Japan, Mr. Trump might meet Japanese citizens kidnapped by North Korea in the 1970s and 1980s.
Mr. Abe called Pyongyang’s missile test last Thursday a “regrettable action”, and said Japan will cooperate closely with other countries in responding to the North Korea’s actions.
President Trump is scheduled to visit Japan from May 25 to 29, Japan’s first visiting head of state since Emperor Naruhito was inaugurated early this month.
