(VOVWORLD) - Japanese Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu is set to visit Latin American and African countries to promote a "free and open Indo-Pacific".

Mr. Motegi will visit Mexico, Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay, Brazil, Senegal, Nigeria, and Kenya, beginning Monday.
In Latin America, he will discuss measures to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, economic ties, and the business environment for Japanese companies.
In Africa, Mr. Motegi will discuss strengthening business ties and cooperation with next year's session of a Japan-led conference on development known as TICAD.
