The article, titled "Vietnam's role in turning the East Sea into a sea of peace and cooperation", says a peaceful and cooperative East Sea is the aspiration of many countries in the region, who agree with Vietnam's view that the East Sea should be a sea of cooperation and connectivity, not an area of confrontation and conflict.

The article said the US and Japan also want peace, security, and stability in the East Sea. During a US-ASEAN video conference in May 2021, Atul Keshap, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs, said President Biden's administration values the strategic partnership with ASEAN and wants to coordinate closely with ASEAN to maintaining peace, security and stability in the region and ensure maritime security and safety in the East Sea.

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, during a visit to Vietnam and Indonesia in late April and early May, pledged to work closely with those countries towards a stable, free, and open Indo-Pacific region.
