Japanese retailers expand business in Vietnam

(VOVWORLD) - An increasing number of Japanese retailer shave expanded their business in Vietnam when localities have eased social distancing restrictions and accelerated vaccination.

Arabica Coffee Chain, a famous coffee brand in Japan’s Kyoto city with more than 100 stores in 18 countries, has announced the opening of its first store in Vietnam. This brand said its first store will be located at The Cafe Apartment building on Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.

In late October, the famous casual wear retail chain Uniqlo inaugurated a new store in Ha Dong District in Hanoi. Early this month, it opened the first online store in Vietnam with more than 15,000 products. After two years in Vietnam, Uniqlo has 10 stores and partnered with 45 garment factories in Vietnam.

Japan's leading retailer, the AEON Group, has invested nearly 1.2 billion USD in Vietnam and plans to double the number of malls here. With a long-term business strategy, it intends to go on the Vietnamese stock market and increase the export of Vietnamese goods, such as seafood and garments, to Japan.
