(VOVWORLD) - Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong chaired a working session of key leaders on Saturday right after the closing of the Party Central Committee’s plenum the same day, during which senior Party members decided many important issues and recommended personnel for the posts of State President and National Assembly (NA) Chairman.

Mr. Trong congratulated the Committee for unanimously nominating Mr. To Lam, Politburo member and Minister of Public Security, to the NA for election as the next State President; and Mr. Tran Thanh Man, Politburo member and NA’s Permanent Vice Chairman, as NA Chairman.
The key leaders agreed that over the past time they have demonstrated strong performance in maintaining solidarity, unity, and close coordination to successfully lead and direct the implementation of all tasks, cope with many arising problems, maintain macroeconomic stability, control inflation, and ensure major economic balances.
They stressed the need to maintain solidarity and unity among the Party, people, and army, accelerate economic growth in line with maintaining macroeconomic stability, rein in inflation, and ensure major balances of the economy.
It is imperative to ensure national defense and security, effectively implement external activities, secure a peaceful and stable environment for national development, and intensify the fight against corruption to strengthen people's trust in the Party, State, and regime, they said.
