Korean peninsula’s nuclear issue tops the agenda of US-South Korea summit

(VOVworld) – US President Barack Obama and South Korean President Park Geun-hye discussed the resumption of the six-party talks on the Korean peninsula’s nuclear issue at a summit at the White House on Saturday.

The two leaders committed to cooperate with China to bring North Korea to be back to the six-party talks as soon as possible. At a joint press briefing after the summit, the US President said Washington will immediately join the negotiation if the Pyongyang wants to have a serious dialogue to give up its nuclear program. President Obama urged Pyongyang to abandon its nuclear program, saying that pursuing a nuclear program will further isolate Pyongyang and hinder its economic development. South Korean President Park Geun-hye said measures to enhance South Korea-US alliance, regional and international issues were also discussed at the summit.
