(VOVworld)- The Lao Embassy in Hanoi has held a ceremony to celebrate the traditional Lao New Year- Boun Pi Mai. Speaking at the event on Friday, Lao Ambassador Somphone Sichaleune underlined the significance of the ceremony, saying it vividly manifests the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos. He said the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries have developed extensively and intensively. He recounted the two sides’ close coordination last year in successfully organizing the Laos-Vietnam, Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year, helping to raise each people’s awareness of preserving and developing the relationship. Vietnamese Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan said Vietnam always treasures ties with Laos. She added that the Vietnamese people are resolved to work with the Lao side in preserving and upholding the relations.
