Last year, Laos received more than 1.2 million Vietnamese tourists, and 137,000 Laotians visited Vietnam. Vietnam  ranks 2^nd in the number of tourists to Laos. Ha Van Sieu, Deputy Director General of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, said: “The conference is a good opportunity for Vietnamese and Lao businesses to exchange information, boost cooperation, and boost the number of tourists visiting the two countries. It will also help promote the time-honored friendship and solidarity of Vietnam and Laos. This is also a chance to learn about Vietnam’s culture, people, and tourism sector”.

The participants shared information on tourism management and promotion and proposed measures to develop the tourism industry.

In the first half of this year, Vietnam welcomed more than 68,000 Lao visitors, up 22 percent from last year.
