“This is the last shipment of the 6 most advanced submarines owned and operated by the Vietnamese navy. We are now ready for new missions”, said Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Huu Minh of the Vietnam People’s Navy.
It took over 40 days for the Netherlands’ heavy lift vessel Rolldock Storm to carry the submarine, named HQ-187 Ba Ria-Vung Tau, from Russia to Cam Ranh port.
In 2014 and 2015, Russia handed over four similar submarines to Vietnam. Later in February 2016, the fifth submarine named HQ-186 Da Nang harbored at Cam Ranh.
