Li Qiang elected Chinese Prime Minister
(VOVWORLD) - Li Qiang, member of the Chinese Communist Party Politburo Standing Committee was elected Chinese Premier at the 4th Plenary meeting of the 1st session of the 14th National People’s Congress on Saturday replacing retiring Li Keqiang.

Prime Minister Li Qiang is a native of Rui’an city, Zhejiang Province. He was born in 1959 and joined the Chinese Communist Party in 1983. He was Governor of Zhejiang Province, Party Secretary of Jiangsu Provincial Committee, and Communist Party chief of Shanghai.
Li was also appointed as a member of the CPC Politburo in 2017.
The new premier Li Qiang is expected to lead the world's second-largest economy to quickly recover and regain strong growth post COVID-19.
