The parliament appointed Defense Minister Abdullah al-Thani acting premier until a permanent replacement is approved by the GNC. The no-confidence vote was carried out following a conflict between the government and a rebel militia force in eastern Libya over crude oil. The rebel group said an oil tanker controlled by the group evaded a naval blockade and escaped to sea despite threats from Zeidan’s government to use force if necessary to stop it.
