(VOVworld) - Libya’s Tobruk-based parliament decided on Tuesday to halt UN-supervised talks and dismiss a resolution on establishing a unity government. The elected parliament, based in eastern Libya, also withdrew from talks with European and North African leaders scheduled for Germany in the coming days to discuss a UN proposal aiming to end the power struggle in Lybia.

Earlier on Tuesday, Bernardino Leon, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Libya, in a meeting in Maroc, called on establishing a transitional government within a year, in which a Minister Council led by Prime Minister and two Deputy PMs will rule the country . This is the fourth time Leon has made such a proposal.

Libya’s Tobruk-based House of Representatives will be the only legislature and advisory body of the State Council, comprising 120 members including members of the General National Congress (GNC)
