Malaysia’s Foreign Minister, Anifah Aman said Thursday that Malaysia sticks to its policy and wants the best solution to the East Sea conflict to maintain regional friendship and links. At a press conference following a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Aman said ASEAN needs to discuss East Sea territorial disputes within the bloc before discussing them with China. Aman also said that all sides need to abide by international law, the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), and the Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC) signed by ASEAN Foreign Ministers and China in 2002.
