Speaking at a meeting of the National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control in Hanoi on Wednesday/ today, Mr. Dam said the COVID-19 pandemic is complicated in many countries in the region, which has a direct impact on Vietnam’s pandemic prevention. It’s time to mobilize the highest response and strictly deal with legal entrants, he said.
“People should advise their relatives, who are living abroad, to abide by local pandemic preventive regulations. If they need to return to Vietnam, they should do so legally and follow quarantine rules. People, who illegally cross the border, will be strictly punished. We need to take active preventive measures, particularly to wear masks,” said Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam.
The Steering Committee asked the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Science and Technology to offer more favorable conditions for testing home-grown COVID-19 vaccines. Vaccine production plans should be put in place once the testing is successful. The Ministry of Health was urged to continue negotiations to purchase more vaccines and ensure import procedures.
