Minister calls on Russian company to export pork to Vietnam

(VOVWORLD) -Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong said on Friday that Vietnam has huge demand for pork, a good opportunity for cooperation with Russian Group Miratorg.

At their working session in Hanoi, Minister Cuong and Viktor Linnik, a representative of the group discussed cooperation in trading agro-forestry-seafood products.

He said: “Vietnam is ready to import cheaper agricultural produce such as pork and export its products of advantage edge, including fish and shrimps. More than 140 million Russians do not produce tra fish, much shrimp, and coffee. So agricultural products of the two countries are supplementary instead of compete with each other. The group can broker imports of products to supply to Russians for win-win cooperation.”

Mr. Linnik said his group can export meat, animal feed, and wheat  to Vietnam within 20 days.

According to Minister Cuong, Vietnam produces 50 million tons of agricultural products each year. Its output of chicken, pork, and beef is estimated at 5.5 million tons per year. Vietnam is also a leading producer and exporter of coffee, cashew nuts, and timber, meeting domestic needs and earning a total export turnover of 41 billion USD last year.
