Founder of the beauty pageant Vo An Nguyen, said “We want the contestants through the contest to experience and learn about the culture and tourism of Vietnam in general, the Southwest and the Southeast regions in particular. This makes it different from the first contest. We are responsible for finding the raw pearls of the Southern region and promoting the culture and tourism of this land.”

The first edition of Miss Southern Vietnam pageant was held in 2017. This year, after the preliminary round in Can Tho city, the semi-final round is scheduled for October in Tay Ninh province and the final round to be held in November in Can Tho.
